Mayan Rohrer Serves on the McKee Wellness Foundation Board

Ever wonder what real estate agent Mayan Rohrer does in her spare time? Community giveback is high on her list of was she fills her time! We recently caught up with her to learn more about her work as a board member of the McKeen Wellness Foundation:

  1. What is your history with the McKee Wellness Foundation? How did you become a board member?

I’ve been an active member of The Junior League of Fort Collins since 2011 and served in various positions as both a committee chair and member of the board of directors. In 2017, when I decided to take a year off of my active membership status, I sought another avenue to dedicate my time and resources to. Allis Gilbert, the executive director of the McKee Wellness Foundation, was a former member of The Junior League and had mentioned board membership in the past. I reached out to her, applied for a membership and was interviewed by the board and staff before officially becoming a board member.

I was initially drawn to the McKee Wellness Foundation because of their extensive history in the Loveland community and their focus on wellness and prevention as well as care and medical treatment.

  1. What role do you play on the McKee Wellness Foundation board and what are your main contributions?

As a newer member to the board and serving on the marketing committee, my goal is to help raise awareness about the McKee Wellness Foundation. As we broaden our focus to all of Northern Colorado and wellness as a whole, not only do we want community members to know who we are, but also shift the understanding for people who have preconceived notions of what the McKee Wellness Foundation is all about.

I also want to give my time whenever possible. Volunteer opportunities allow me to give back to the foundation in a tangible way. I also love any opportunity to get face to face time with community members who support us.

  1. Who benefits from the McKee Wellness Foundation’s services?

The McKee Wellness Foundation’s mission is to bridge the gaps to actively support a community in pursuit of good health and wellness. Our goal is to enable physical and mental wellness across northern Colorado by helping to fill the gap between available resources and the needs of the community. We achieve this through supporting community wellness programs, hosting fundraising events for local projects and programs, and pursuing projects related to wellness in the community. Everyone has his or her own pursuit when it comes to wellness in the community – it may be a single mom wanting to earn a scholarship for a nursing degree or a disabled veteran needing support to help him stay in his home. At the McKee Wellness Foundation, we want to help make pursuits like these a reality. As mentioned, our goal is to fill the gaps for health and wellness in our community. We make this pursuit a reality by focusing on three pillars of service:

  • Patient Care – We provide both prescription assistance and emergency funds to support current cancer patients who are unable to afford their medications or other costs associated with ongoing needs during treatment.
  • Education – As part of our ongoing commitment to wellness, education, and ensuring we provide critical resources to those in our community, we annually award scholarships to individuals and employees in the McKee Medical Center community. In 2019, we distributed over $70,000 in scholarships.
  • Community Support – Leading initiatives by working with local partners to provide resources & support the pursuit of healthy lifestyles. This includes our Veterans Blue Star Fund.

  1. How can community members get involved and support?

There are many ways to get involved with the McKee Wellness Foundation. Your commitment to giving back directly influences the lives of northern Colorado community members!

  • Support our Work – There are many ways to ensure that health and wellness programs have stability and foundational support for years to come. Your donation, either one-time or ongoing, allows us to provide the critical and life-saving work to those who need it, at the time and place they need it.
  • Engage with Us – We’d love to see you! We have four fantastic events that you and your family can attend. We’re proud to annually conduct Banner Health’s Dancing with the Docs, the MWF Invitational, our annual Gala for Wellness, or the Loveland Turkey Trot!
  • Volunteer – Whether at one of our events or impacting our patients, volunteering is great way to be involved with the Foundation!
  • Create a Ripple Effect – Ask us how we can impact your community! Or, let your friends know about the amazing things happening at the Foundation!
