The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB accredited business school which enrolls more than 3,800 undergraduate students in eight business concentrations and approximately 1,500 graduate students across eight graduate programs. While we are the largest undergraduate and graduate major on campus, we strive to create a small college environment.
The College of Business Career Management Center provides comprehensive career services to on-campus undergraduate and on-campus and online graduate students and alumni of Colorado State University’s College of Business. Services include career counseling, assessment and development, internship and job search assistance, hosting of employer events, and personal marketing for career opportunities. 90 percent of the graduates from the College of Business have a job offer within 90 days of graduation, while 55 percent of business students complete an internship.
Position Summary
The Career Counselor works with undergraduate and graduate students, including international students and historically underrepresented student populations, and alumni on the career management process. The Counselor must be fluent in current career development practices, career information and planning services, job availability information, interview skills, resume writing training, and internship/job search assistance strategies in both individual and group settings for students and alumni of the College of Business.
Additionally the Career Counselor must understand pedagogics as they will develop, coordinate and deliver student workshops in all areas of career development, make class presentations, and teach BUS100, Introduction to Business, to freshmen Business Administration majors.
Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree in appropriate area such as career counseling, student affairs/administration in higher education, human resources or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience in career development, placement or career services activities in higher education including knowledge of career counseling and student development theories
• Strong written communication skills
