Three We R FoCo Members Nominated for the 2020 Better Business Bureau Torch Awards

2020 BBB Torch Awards for Ethics

April 23, 2020 | Embassy Suites, Loveland | 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

There are few formal stamps of approval as prominent as the annual Better Business (BBB) Torch Awards for Ethics. The BBB Foundation provides ethics-based assessments, training, and recognition programs for businesses, consumers, nonprofits, and students. Each year, their work culminates in the celebration of the Torch Awards for Ethics.

Of the 11 businesses and three nonprofits from northern Colorado and Wyoming that have been named the final candidates for the 22nd annual celebration, we are thrilled to highlight three We R FoCo Members who have been nominated for their strong standards of ethics and community involvement!

We R FoCo Business Nominees

Exodus Moving & Storage: Any move you are faced with, Exodus is there to help. Their expert team of movers handles everything from interior moves (moving items from one room into another), to residential and commercial moves. Whether moving down the street, across town, to the other side of the state, or across the nation, Exodus is Colorado’s trusted sources of movers.

“Exodus is honored to be a nominee for the Torch awards, this process is very competitive.”

           – Kelly Brueck, Marketing/PR Specialist

Fort Collins Nursery: Since their humble beginnings opening as a vegetable farm back in 1932, Fort Collins Nursery has undergone many pivotal points of growth and transformation to continue serving our local community members. Now owned and operated by Jesse Eastman (who grew up in and around the nursery landing his first job there at age 6), the nursery remains family-owned and an integral part of our community.

“Fort Collins Nursery is proud to be nominated for the BBB Torch Awards. For nearly 90 years we have placed ethical practices at the forefront of all aspects of our business, from how we treat our employees to how we interact with customers and the wonderful community that surrounds and supports us. It is an honor to be recognized for our efforts!”

-Jesse Eastman, Owner & General Manager

We R FoCo Nonprofit Nominee

The Matthews House: Sparked by a conversation with a young man who had recently aged out of foster care with no home to turn to, The Matthews House was created by Jerri Schmitz to fill a need in our community. Since its inception in 2006, the organization has grown to employ over 50 dedicated staff members who work hard to empower young adults and families in transition to navigate difficulties on the road to self-sufficiency.

“The Matthews House is honored to be nominated for a BBB Torch Award. In all aspects of our organization we value honesty, transparency, and ethical practices. We are delighted that these efforts have been affirmed as a candidate for this award.”  – Jerri Schmitz, Founder

In 2019, all three of these candidates underwent a rigorous process of reviews by an independent selection committee followed by completing an award application based on the BBB’s six TRUST! Principles. In April, the winning organizations (three businesses and one nonprofit) of 2020 BBB Torch Awards for Ethics will be announced. Good luck to all the We R FoCo nominees!
