Expecting Mamas and Babies Welcome at Impact Chiropractic

Step into Impact Chiropractic and you’ll find expecting mothers and children alike. While the health center helps all people and can do many different types of chiropractic care, Dr. Elise Rigney, owner of Impact, has a passion for prenatal and pediatric care. The three doctors at Impact Chiropractic, Dr. Elise Rigney, Dr. Lara Osterhaus, and Dr. Kendra Conner, have extensive post-doctoral training in pediatrics and prenatal care.  They speak all over the country to other chiropractors on this specialty. They specialize in family care and seek to identify underlying causes of pain and dysfunction, take care of the cause, and help their patients live a healthier life. It is common for the doctors to start seeing newborns just hours to days old.

While it may seem unusual for kids to see a chiropractor, there are special techniques designed specifically for them that can improve quality of life in many ways. Taking children to a chiropractor can encourage brain and nerve development, strengthen their immune system, support digestive health, and promote body balance. Examining a newborn’s spine for subluxation can prevent many health issues in the future. Subluxation is a slight misalignment of spinal vertebrae, which can occur during natural child birth.

“With my firstborn, they helped to get him regular and sleeping through the night. I just had my second little one checked, and Dr. Elise, Dr. Lara, and Dr. Kendra are set on helping him with his acid reflux and allergies. I am so thankful for these amazing doctors and all their help and concern with my family’s health!” -Brittany S.

This whole-body health begins in the womb. All three of the doctors at Impact Chiropractic have a passion for family and pediatric care and have received Webster technique certification. Webster technique is a type of prenatal chiropractic adjustment focusing on the mother’s pelvis.  Adjustments can be made to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation, this can in turn decrease labor time.

Women who undergo chiropractic care during their pregnancies experience benefits both during the pregnancy and after. Chiropractic care can help to control symptoms of nausea, reduce labor and delivery time, and relieve back and neck pain. As the baby grows, the mother’s center of gravity will shift, affecting posture. This can cause misaligned spine and joints. Adjustments can help to alleviate some of the stress and pain associated with misalignment.

“Dr. Elise and her team are wonderful. I was referred by my doula for their specialty in Webster technique, and I was more than pleased with the care I received. My labor was amazing thanks to their care, but that was just the beginning. I’ve continued to address my chiropractic needs with Impact and I’m already seeing improvements with some long-term issues I’ve had.” – Sara B.

The women at Impact Chiropractic have a special spot in their hearts for pregnant women and children. They do all that they can to stay up-to-date and educated on current chiropractic techniques and how to be most effective. Fort Collins is lucky to have such dedicated, compassionate chiropractors caring for our community’s families.
